Soviet Soldier is original black China ink and tempera painting on ivory-colored paper, made by the Swedish illustrator and reporter Adolf Reinhold Hallman around 1950 ca.
On the back the ink stamp "Made in Italy by Adolf Hallman, 54 Via Margutta Roma".
The state of preservation is good.
This artwork represents a standing blackish soviet soldier through deft strokes, the artwork is subjective and masterly created through sharp contrast of red in the background and black figure.
Adolf Hallman (1893 – 1968) was a Swedish illustrator who sensibly contributed to Swedish, Danish and Norwegian newspapers and magazines, including Tidens Tegn, Dagbladet, Exlex and Politiken. Among his books is På Boulevard Europa. He illustrated editions of Charles Baudelaire's Fleurs du Mal and Guy de Maupassant's Boule de Suif.
